Khadijah Queen
KHADIJAH QUEEN is the author of Conduit (Black Goat/Akashic 2008), and Black Peculiar, which won the 2010 Noemi Book Award for Poetry and was a finalist for the Gatewood Prize at Switchback Books. Her chapbooks are I'm So Fine: A List of Famous Men and What I Had On (2013), available for download from Sibling Rivalry Press, and No Isla Encanta (dancing girl press 2007). Individual works appear widely in journals and anthologies including Rattle, jubilat, Aufgabe and Best American Nonrequired Reading. Poetics essays are forthcoming in The Force of What's Possible (Nightboat 2014) and Family Resemblance: An Anthology and Exploration of 8 Hybrid Literary Genres (Rose Metal Press 2015). The recipient of fellowships from Cave Canem, Squaw Valley Community of Writers, Idyllwild Summer Poetry and the Norman Mailer Writers' Colony, she holds an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University Los Angeles and a BA in English from University of Maryland. She founded the reading series Courting Risk in 2008.
